Ethicon Endo-Surgery, Inc. supports initiatives that promote ongoing research, education and innovation in the health care community. Programs accepted for support are aligned with our vision of transforming patient care through innovation, focused in an area of business, educational and research interest to Ethicon Endo-Surgery and consistent with applicable guidelines from government and professional health care organizations. Ethicon Endo-Surgery reserves the right to post on a public website the recipients, value and purpose of its funding.

Additionally, the Johnson & Johnson Credo highlights our responsibility to give back to the communities in which we live and work. Therefore, Ethicon Endo-Surgery supports community-based charitable activities with our current focus being the prevention of childhood obesity, prevention of disease in the areas of colorectal cancer, breast cancer and diabetes, building skills of people to serve community health care needs and improving access to care through health care advocacy and education in underserved communities.  Ethicon Endo-Surgery also considers requests for product donations.

Charitable Contributions

Currently, Ethicon Endo-Surgery has aligned its philanthropic support with key focus areas of the company’s strategic vision. Requests for funding or product donations are reviewed on the 3rd Monday of each month. Requests must be submitted six weeks prior to the event.

Educational Grants

Ethicon Endo-Surgery supports educational programs sponsored by medical institutions, societies or medical educational organizations. These programs include conferences, symposia, speaker programs, community outreach education and development of educational materials for health care professionals and/or patients.

Clinical Fellowships

Ethicon Endo-Surgery Inc. (EES) believes that working with medical institutions, thought leaders and other health care professionals (HCPs) is critical to encourage innovation, enhance patient education, procedural outcomes, and promote cost saving efficiencies in the medical device industry. EES is pleased to be able to support educational grants for fellowship programs sponsored by medical teaching institutions and medical societies.

Fellowships are awarded to qualifying medical instructional institutions or societies based on pre-established criteria surrounding the merit and rigor of the program, as well as funding availability. The institution is responsible for program design and selection of the fellow.

Investigator-Initiated Studies (IIS)

Ethicon Endo-Surgery supports unique, non-duplicative, independent clinical research studies of scientific and business merit with grants providing either technical input (e.g., statistical analyses, medical writing), funding and/or EES product(s). Applications for this type of study, called an Investigator-Initiated Study (IIS), receive a cross-functional scientific, business, regulatory and health care compliance review.

Promotion and Advertising Requests

Ethicon Endo-Surgery may purchase exhibit space or advertising at events sponsored by other organizations. This funding is promotional for Ethicon Endo-Surgery products and services. Any additional funding to support a program must be requested as an educational grant. EES does not mix its promotional support with its grant support. Promotional and Advertising Requests may not be used for fundraising events (e.g., golf outings, galas, etc.). Contact charitable contributions for those requests.
